Harley was surrendered to the shelter after she fell through a glass window and was brought to the vet. The owner’s did not want to pay the vet bill, so they opted to euthanize instead. The vet clinic called us and we opted to pay for the surgery through Trooper’s fund and save Harley’s life. She has spent the last few months recovering but is now ready for her new home. Harley is extremely affectionate with her people and does suffer from some separation anxiety when left alone and would do best in a non-attached home. Harley does not do well being introduced to new people, but staff and volunteers are working with this issue and with some training, we believe Harley will overcome this. She is extremely food motivated and once you are in her trusted circle, she will beg you for pets for hours. Harley is so gentle, she let us touch her open wounds from the glass incident with no aggression or reaction. Once she trusts you, she trusts you 100%. Harley tends to show her “hound” side by parking her nose to the ground and thus, would need a fenced in yard. She is extremely energetic and would need an active, adult family. Harley does best with large, well socialized dogs, but tends to not like smaller or aggressive dogs.
